Dolphin & Whale Tour

humpack whale (Megaptera novaeangliae)

The Divine Dolphin has been specializing in whale and dolphin encounters in Drake Bay since 1998. Their tour and conservation efforts have been featured on Animal Planet, The Travel Channel, The BBC with Steve Backshall, The Discovery Channel, Jeff Corwin Experience, Destination Wildlife, and in numerous international magazines and websites. They are also partners of the World Cetacean Alliance and are participating members of their Responsible Whale and Dolphin Watching Program. Their research data taken by marine biologists and student volunteers, and the resulting published scientific reports, have helped bring attention to the need to conserve and protect these waters, resulting in the creation of The Alvaro Ugalde Marine Preserve initiative.

We offer our guests the opportunity to experience the abundant marine life found on the Osa Peninsula including dolphins, whales, rays and sea turtles. You will benefit from their 20 years of experience of the dolphins´and whales´ behaviors, habits and hangouts in this area. Every tour is unique. Some days you can encounter small pods of dolphins and other days you can encounter mega pods numbering in the hundreds and even thousands. Sometimes you stay close to shore (especially during the best whale season, when humpack whales come to have their babies, mid-July to October) and other times you travel far offshore. An on-board hydrophone is provided to hear the sounds of the dolphins and whales. They stop during day for restroom breaks, lunch, and when the ocean conditions are right, to snorkel.
