Sea Turtle Tour

hatching baby turtles

A local guide will lead you to the beach, tell you about the biology of the sea turtles and help you look for their tracks (full tour). The guides are from the local association of the community which is working for the conservation of the sea turtles. If you are lucky you will see a turtle nesting and laying eggs. You will also visit the hatchery, where eggs are protected from predators. Sometimes when the people from the local association know that baby turtles are just about going to hatch, they offer a tour to see the tiny baby turtles.

Please note:

  • This tour takes only place between August and December during the nesting time of the Olive Ridley Sea Turtles. In the full tour, there is no guarantee that you will actually see a sea turtle, however the guide is doing his best to help you spotting one. The best probability to see turtles is in September and October.
  • We recommend wearing rubber boots or at least hiking boots and long pants for more protection. Please do not use insect repellent for this tour.
  • There is also the possibility to see sea turtles working as a volunteer together with the local association for several days or weeks staying with a local family ($25 per night including 3 daily meals). You can contact us for more information.
